What is 'OBE Assistant'?
OBEA is a tool to help produce formative assessment tasks in Outcomes Based Education (OBE). It has been developed for use with the OBE system implemented by the Curriculum Council of the Western Australian government. The main idea with OBEA is to assign numerical marks to questions and be able to determine the conceptual level of achievement (level/band) for that task using these marks.

Why use OBEA?
Using OBEA produces valid student results that are explicit and comparable between students within schools and students between schools. Teachers will find that OBEA will reduce the subjectivity in determining a level of achievement for an assessment.
Other benefits to assessing using OBEA include:
- Ability to average results for a particular student, class or year group
- Rank students to determine end of year prize winners
- Ranks students so that they can be streamed
- Reduce teacher marking time considerably
- Minimise subjectivity

Tetroku is a pulse racing puzzle game of strategy based on Sudoku and Tetris.
Can you reach Tetroku? Position the blocks as they fall so that the numbers do not appear in the same row, column or box. The strategic placement of 'wild' (?), 'random' blocks and the formation of the 'slice bonus' will help you complete the grid of 81 squares.

ChemCalcs is a chemistry ‘question and answer’ environment for students.
ChemCalcs provides a unique and intuitive system for mastering fundamental skills and processes essential to the understanding of chemistry calculations and concepts. The unique 'standardised interface system' allows students to problem-solve questions in a logical and consistent manner similar to techniques taught by chemistry educators. An essential resource for science teachers, ChemCalcs can be integrated with many chemistry topics and courses.

Overview of Concepts
The following is an overview of the skills and concepts that are covered:
- Naming elements and writing element symbols.
- Constructing atoms with protons, neutrons and electrons in electron clouds, shells or orbitals.
- Constructing isotope notation (mass number and atomic number with symbol).
- Construct Electronic Configurations for shells and orbitals.
- Construct formulas for molecules, ions and ionic compounds.
- Construct and balance equations
- Construct and complete ‘Type reactions’.
- Solve calculations involving molar mass, moles, volume, mass, Avogadro’s number and number of particles.
- Solve stoichiometric calculations involving molar mass, moles, volume, mass, Avogadro’s number and number of particles.

Learning Advantages
In the learning environment it is important that students experience chemistry content in a variety of styles and that they have the opportunity to use critical thinking and problem solving skills. ChemCalcs provides a system for the development of these skills. Below is a list of some of the educational benefits of ChemCalcs:
- Unique 'standardised interface system' allows students with difficulties to refine their process skills.
- Interface system gives students the opportunity to make links between different chemistry concepts and to develop a more structured understanding of calculation processes.
- Students are forced to problem solve by having to choose how tools are to be used and which formulas are needed.
- Allows for visualisation of atomic models formulas and equations

Teaching Advantages
It is important for any teacher to have a variety of educational resources at their disposal to meet the particular needs of students. ChemCalcs is a powerful and fun way to further develop student chemistry skills. Some benefits include:
- Conceptual grouping of questions allow ChemCalcs to be easily integrated into teacher programs.
- An alternative resource for students who complete set work.
- Caters for individual learning styles.
- Can be used to assist students with difficulties to better understand calculation processes in a logical and consistent manner.
- Encourages the use of problem solving skills.

Main Features
The main features of ChemCalcs include:
- Questions are grouped conceptually.
- Questions are set out in a consistent manner.
- Questions progressively become more difficult.
- Hundreds of problems to solve. (Limited to 2 questions per set in demonstration mode)
- Save your progress. (Disabled in demonstration mode)
- Interface and menus are similar to other commonly used applications for ease of use.
- Progress of questions answered is indicated as a percentage.
- Physical states of species are coloured for easy identification.
-Tool design reflects how concepts are logically set out.
